MALSIG project

MALSIG consortium - EU 7. framework progrogramme

Duration: 4 years

Application period: 2009-2012

Doctorates: Dr. Shruti Agarwal, Dr. Selina Kern

Summary:

The transition between successive developmental stages of the complex malaria parasite life cycle, as well as the completion of the developmental programme of each of the individual stages, must imply extensive signalling pathways. The general objective of the MALSIG consortium was to remedy the blatant lack of information on signaling pathway components with a particular focus on malarial kinases. The concept behind the MALSIG project was to investigate the characterisation on signalling pathways components of the Plasmodium life cycle, including erythrocyte infection by the merozoite, sexual development and sporogony and hepatocyte infection by the sporozoite.
